‘Beast Mode’, ‘Bigote’, ‘Babes’: Learn more about former Red Lion Robert Bolick’s many monikers

Robert Bolick was best known for steering San Beda University to an NCAA three-peat run from 2016 to 2018----a feat that has placed him as one of the school’s legends.

But apart from these achievements, the 6-foot-1 guard is also known for another thing, his monikers: beast mode, bigote, and Babes Bolick.

Fans started calling him as ‘beast mode’ when he erupted for 50 huge points during the Red Lions’ 98-79 victory against the Arellano University back on August 24, 2018 in Season 94.

He then brought that swagger to the world stage when he suited up for the Philippines in the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

“I just graduated from college and I was just a rookie back then so I really have to show my emotions because of course, we wanted to win,” said the NorthPort guard on ‘Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96’ on Wednesday.

“You’re not just representing a school, but you’re now representing the country.”

Famed for his unique stache, the 25-year-old also earned another nickname, ‘bigote’. And this is Bolick’s way of distracting his opponents in the games.

“‘Yan ‘yung mga pampakiliti sa mga kalaban,” Bolick said in jest.

“Para ‘pag nagkalaban kami, binabantayan na lang niya ‘yung bigote ko, hindi na ‘yung galaw ko. May advantage na ako.”

But it does not stop there, he is also known as ‘Babes’ Bolick---a pet name he’s also been using in his social media accounts for a long time now.

And the story behind it was as simple as this: “Maganda lang ‘yung tunog so ‘yun na ‘yung ginamit ko para maganda.”
