OPM band Sala recalls the coincidences of how they were discovered by GMA Music

OPM band Sala was one of the newest additions to GMA Music's AltG Records' exceptional roster of musicians. 

Sala officially signed a recording contract with AltG Records on January 25, 2024. The four members are Neth Macam (vocalist and keyboardist), Ronald Villadir (bassist), Fourth Tayag (percussion drums player), and Rigil Kentaurus Borromeo (electric guitar player and producer). 
 

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, the band recalled how they were discovered by GMA Music. 

"Kasi noong na-record na ang mga songs namin, ang ginagawa ko ipinaparinig ko s'ya kung kani-kanino. Tinitignan ko lang kung anong masasabi nila sa song, kung kumusta ang song," Sala's leader Neth Macam said. 

He continued, "Tapos may friend ako na may cafe sa Subic, tapos sabi n'ya, 'Neth, try nating i-play 'yung song mo.' Tapos pinlay nila 'yung song doon sa cafe. Ayon na, may nagtanong daw kung anong title ng song? Sino ang gumawa? Anong banda 'to?

"Iyon pala isa-submit 'yung song sa GMA. Ganoon kami napalapit sa GMA, kakapakinig ko ng songs kung kani-kaninong tao. Kasi nga hindi ko alam kung paano ako magre-release, kung ano ang gagawin. So iyon 'yung naging way ng kakulitan ko na magparinig kung kani-kanino."

This March 15, Sala is set to release their first single titled "Hi Tita!" under AltG Records. The song will be available on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube Music, and other digital music platforms worldwide.

"Hi Tita!" is a song about aging single people who have devoted much of their time to their respective careers and are now facing the pressure of living up to their family's expectations regarding their status in life.
