Japanese band SkyGarden to release JaPinoy track 'Historia'

Japanese-Pinoy rock band SkyGarden is releasing a a new single under GMA Music titled "Historia" which is a fusion of Japanese and Filipino rock.

Inspired by member Iwa's past relationship, "Historia" tackles the feelings that come after a painful breakup.

Japanese-Filipino vocalist Ryo says Iwa's heartbreak was the inspiration for the song. "Actually this is our second single, after "KOKOA."

"It's about the love story of Iwa when he was with his first girlfriend back in college," Ryo says.

"After graduating, dumating na po 'yung pandemic, they still love each other. Nawalan si Iwa ng trabaho and his girlfriend had a dream of going abroad to the U.S.

"She had an opportunity to go to the U.S. and Iwa decided to support her and just break up. Even though they love each other...ma-pride rin si Iwa. Those memories will be in history sa kanya."

"That was a very manly decision for Iwa kasi inuna niya 'yung girl. It was a manly decision."

Iwa shared that moving to the Philippines from Japan two years ago after his breakup helped him heal. "I've already moved on, [but] two years ago, I still loved her. [Before] I came to the Philippines, when I lived in Japan, I still loved her."

He also gave a tip for everyone going through a tough breakup, "If you find yourself in a similar situation, please listen to "Historia."'

Ryo adds, "There's this part at the end of the song 'Kahit nasaan ka man ngayon, alaala [ay] mananatili,' tatlo po kaming sabay-sabay doon. Nandoon 'yung feelings

Meanwhile, member Hiro recalled the fun they had in recording their songs with GMA Music. "Sobrang masaya 'yung recording sa GMA Studio, maganda 'yung equipment sobra lahat bago kaya 'yung tunog sobrang lakas and malinis talaga. And 'yung recording engineer si Sir Kedy [Sanchez] sobrang galing ng advice."

Ryo agreed and added, "Sir Kedy's advice was very important to us. It's very new for us. Whenever we create music with GMA Music totoong JaPinoy Rock, mixed talaga."

Composed of Ryo, Hiro, and Iwa -- SkyGarden is a Japanese-Filipino band showcasing their love for Filipino culture and music. The trio inked their contract with GMA Music in August 2023.
