Kiana Aaliyah's releases 'Gwapo' under AltG records
Kiana Aaliya shares the heartbreak that led her to connect through music
Rising singer and songwriter Kiana Aaliyah is the next soulful artist to watch for.
She has just released "Gwapo" under GMA Music and AltG Records.
Her self-written track "Gwapo" started out as a track she performed for gigs.
In an interview with Papa Obet, she shared how she wrote the song, "Sinulat ko siya back in 2017, tapos ilang beses na naming na-perform live ito and recently this 2023, ni-record ko po siya and it will be released by AltG Records, on October 6 available na po siya for stream and download."
Kiana added, "Dati kasi 'yun 'yung form of expression ko and when I perform sometimes nanghihingi 'yung mga tao ng original composition."
She also revealed the mystery guy who inspired her song, "Si Gwapo, siya ang aking past. Noong 2017, medyo long-term relationship and nung nag-end, at that time, heartbreaking siya. Naramdaman ko talaga 'yung feelings na sinabi ko sa lyrics. Ito ang way ko to connect sa mga taong nakikinig sa songs ko."
"I want to write songs that people can relate to."
Years later, "Gwapo" has taken on a whole meaning for Kiana, as she now uses her songs to connect to her listeners. "Imbis na galit ako or meant ko pa rin 'yung lyrics na 'yan, more on songwriting and art, communicating [with listeners]."
"Super thankful talaga ako, marami po akong nararamdaman, there's happiness and overwhelmed din. Sobrang thankful ako sa AltG, sa lahat ng mga nakikinig."
