Japanese trio SkyGarden releases debut single 'KOKOA'
SkyGarden's first single "KOKOA" is under AltG Records
SkyGarden, a Japanese trio consisting of Ryo, Hiro, and Iwa, are ready to capture the hearts of Filipinos with their song "KOKOA," their first self-composed and produced single as signed recording artists of GMA Music's sub-label AltG Records.
"KOKOA" is set to be released on music streaming platforms this Friday, September 1. You can pre-order your digital copy through iTunes until August 31.
The title of the song is a shortened term for the Japanese phrase "Kokoro kara Aishiteru," which means "I love you from the bottom of my heart."
The song's music was based on the Japanese anime OBB/CBB, but they decided to use Tagalog lyrics to give it Pinoy vibes.
In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, SkyGarden shared the story and inspiration behind "KOKOA."
"It was based on Iwa's background story--lovelife niya noong high school," Ryo shared. "Noong high school po kasi kami may isa siyang crush na classmate niya. Hinahabol niya, ginagalingan niya para maging girlfriend niya. Binibigyan ng mga rosas, messages na marami, pero hindi natupad. Mayroon siyang experience na ganu'n, so we made it into a song."
He continued, "And then 'yung [music] niya po, anime ang dating, style niya. But the lyrics are all Tagalog. Why Tagalog? Of course, we want to put Japanese lyrics din po someday, but we want the people to understand the lyrics of the song kaya ginawa po naming Tagalog."
SkyGarden also revealed that they prepared a music video for their debut single, which will be released on September 8.
Ryo, Hiro, and Iwa are well-known content creators with over 18 million views online since they started their group last year, where they immerse themselves in Filipino culture. Their group officially signed a recording contract with AltG Records on July 28.
