Gel Aquino releases heartbreak song 'Ang Nais Ko'

Pop music artist and lounge singer Gel Aquino has just released her latest single under GMA Music titled "Ang Nais Ko."

This is her sophomore single and her first as a signed recording artist of GMA Music. She was officially signed up with the label last July. Gel captured the attention of GMA Music after distributing her debut single, "Hanap Ka," in November 2022. 

Just like her debut single, "Ang Nais Ko" was also composed by Gel herself. This time, however, the song is about heartbreak. It talks of a person who has been repeatedly hurt by her partner in the relationship. Her partner does not care about how she feels and continues to cheat on her, eventually leaving her. So, she sings about what she desires in a relationship, hence, "Ang Nais Ko."

"Ang inspiration ko po rito ay ang mga nasaktan sa pag-ibig, lalo na 'yung mga kababaihan--na nasaktan sila, na naging martir sila sa relasyon. Tapos ang [dahilan] kung bakit 'Ang Nais Ko,' mayroon siyang pinapahayag na mensahe na ito 'yung gusto niya sa relasyon," Gel said about her song.

She wrote "Ang Nais Ko" during the pandemic in May 2020. "Nagluluto lang ako noon ng gulay tapos nagha-humming na ako ng melody. Nag-stop muna ako sa pagluluto ng gulay, sabi ko, 'Hala! Ang ganda ng melody.' 

"Tapos sabi ko, 'Ang lungkot ng melody, pang-brokenhearted song.' So, doon pa lang po sa melody kung ano po 'yung feeling na nae-express nito, doon ko po nabuo 'yung song. Tapos nilagyan ko na ng words, lyrics, and inspiration."

"Ang Nais Ko" is now available for streaming on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and other digital music streaming platforms worldwide.
