Shayne Sava relates her newest single, 'U-Turn' to self-love

Sparkle and AraBella star Shayne Sava recently released her debut single, "U-Turn," under GMA Playlist. She then related that the song's message is about self-love, expressing how important it is to love oneself first to understand your worth.

In her interview on the GMA Regional TV morning show Mornings with GMA Regional TV, Shayne shared that her new song is about “whether to stay or to leave” a relationship.

“To stay kasi syempre mahal na mahal mo 'yung tao e and syempre kapag mahal mo, kahit ano pang gawin niya, or kahit maraming red flags, wala, rurupok ka pa rin,” she explained.

She continued, “Or to leave kasi na-realize mo na 'yung self worth mo and 'yung self love mo. Kaya po siya naging U-Turn kasi at the end of the song, hindi na po siya babalik. Hindi siya babalik ulit dun sa taong mahal niya, pero paulit ulit siynag sinasaktan.”

Songwriter Rina Mercado previously said that from another perspective, the song was about self-love. When asked how important it is to Shayne, the young Kapuso actress said, “Self-love is the best love. 'Yun nga ang lagi nilang sinasabi.”

“Once you have self love, malalaman mo kung ano 'yung worth mo, kung ano 'yung deserve mo, and of course, you have your self peace and that's what matters the most, 'yung magkaroon ka ng self peace sa sarili mo,” she said.

 She added, “Self love is very important po talaga sa buhay.”

Shayne Sava also revealed that she has been honing her singing skills since she was a kid, saying that it’s her first love.

“Ever since I was a kid, I really really loved singing na po talaga. Besides po sa acting and sa dancing, singing is my first ever love po,” she said.

She added, “Ever since I was a kid, lagi po akong kumakanta, sa cr, sa kahit saan, kapag may ginagawa ako, ganyan. Ganun ko po siya kamahal and also, kasi 'yung family ko po is family po kami ng singers."
