Vilmark gets emotional during 'Lisan' performance video shoot

Kapuso singer Vilmark wore his heart on his sleeve through his recent song "Lisan."

He recalled the painful passing of his father, Virgilio Viray. "Sobrang meaningful nitong song na ito para sa akin, I wrote this song for my father who recently passed away during the holiday season," Vilmark said during a GMA internal press interview.

"I remember during the first night ng tatay ko, na-stuck lang ako sa isang lugar and then I started humming, nagbubuo ako ng words sa isip ko, kasi parang wala akong ibang way para makapag-cope sa situation. And nakita kong way 'yung pagsulat ng kantang 'yun to release how I felt that time."

He explained how close he was to his father while he was still alive, "Nasanay kasi akong laging kasama ang tatay ko, kaya kapag narinig niyo 'yung song, para lang siyang nagkukwento ng relationship ko with my father and how hard it was for me na biglaan kaming naiwan ng tatay ko.

On a lighter note, Vilmark feels inspired to share music inspired by his father. "I'm excited to release this song, not just for me but also for my father, kung paano niya binigay 'yung life niya, not just for me but for our family. It's perfect timing for him to receive this recognition through my single."

Vilmark admitted that he couldn't help but feel grief during the shoot of the performance video for "Lisan," especially since the setting is close to where his father actually passed away.

He narrated, "Nung recording, to be honest umiyak ako. Alam ng buong team na umiyak ko kasi dinala ko rin doon 'yung picture ng tatay ko na ginamit din nung time na nakaburol siya. Alam ng buong GMA Music family nung shinoot namin siya kung gaano 'yung hagulgol at iyak ko that time pero ngayon na-release na siya, I'm just very excited and gusto ko lang ma-share siya sa mga tao.

"During nung Christmas ginagala ko sila always every year, it's time for us makapag-bonding."

"Nagpunta kami ng Tagaytay ng buong family ko, and then suddenly na-stroke 'yung tatay ko habang nasa airbnb kami."

"Nung time na hinatid namin siya sa hospital, five minutes pa lang ang nakakalipas sinabihan na kami ng doctor na na-comatose na 'yung tatay ko and almost zero percent of survival. Alam namin na wala na, but we were just hoping for a miracle doon sa three days namin sa hospital, hinintay na lang namin 'yung last breath ng tatay ko."

"Shinoot 'yung performance video ko, sa Tagaytay din. Hindi alam ng GMA Music 'yung story of how my dad passed away sa Tagaytay. 'Yung place na pinag-shootan namin hindi alam ng GMA Music na malapit lang din kung saan namatay 'yung tatay ko."

"Sinabi ko sa nanay ko, 'Parang hindi ko yata kaya kasi it's really hard for me na makita 'yung place.'"

Vilmark came to a conclusion that the place where he was heartbroken from the loss of his father, is the same place where he would regain his strength. "I just realized na siguro si Papa na ang nag-plan for me to face reality, naging special siya kasi kung saan namatay 'yung Papa ko, doon din ginawa 'yung performance video ng kanta na dinidedicate ko sa kanya."
