Multitalented singer-songwriter Abby Clutario just released a soulful rendition of Up Dharma Down's iconic song "Tadhana," which made a quick rise on the iTunes Philippines chart.
The revival has reached the fifth spot on the music chart and has also been included in Spotify's Fresh Finds Philippines Playlist.
"Tadhana" is Abby Clutario's debut single under AltG Records, a sub-label of GMA Music. In the said song, she showcased her musical prowess while playing the Chapman Stick, an electric instrument with 10-12 strings.
According to Abby, performing Tadhana as her first single was a collaborative decision with GMA Music A&R Manager Kedy Sanchez.
She shared, "When he asked me to do a cover, nung sinabi n'ya, 'Why don't you do 'Tadhana,' ang sabi ko naman, 'Why not?' kasi syempre ito ay isa rin sa mga most requested na song kapag ako ay nagpe-perform, kadalasan syempre sa mga wedding.
"Pero it just so happened usually kapag kino-cover ko 'yan sa mga event ay piano. And then sabi ko, 'Oo nga parang maganda nga s'yang gawin sa Chapman Stick.' Naging iba rin talaga 'yung kinalabasan n'ya and I'm happy na na-suggest s'ya ni Sir Kedy because I really also like the song syempre Up Dharma [Down] 'yan 'di ba."
Abby is the only female Chapman Stick player in the Philippines. She is best known as the vocalist, keyboardist, and Chapman Stick player of the progressive rock band fuseboxx. In November 2022, she officially signed a contract with AltG Records.
