Abby Clutario to release own rendition of iconic song 'Tadhana'
Abby Clutario gives a new spin on Up Dharma Down's hit song, "Tadhana."
Multitalented singer-songwriter Abby Clutario is releasing her own version of Up Dharma Down's iconic song "Tadhana," giving it a fresh twist for her debut single under AltG Records, a sub-label of GMA Music.
Abby is already known in the music scene as an indie artist. She is the vocalist, keyboardist, and Chapman Stick player of the progressive rock band fuseboxx. She officially signed a contract with AltG Records in November 2022.
In a press interview, Abby shared why she chose to perform "Tadhana," where she will showcase her unique talent of playing the Chapman Stick-- the first and only one of two who can play this electric musical instrument in the Philippines.
"It's actually a collaborative decision between Sir Kedy Sanchez. When he asked me to do a cover, nung sinabi n'ya, 'Why don't you do 'Tadhana,' ang sabi ko naman, 'Why not?' kasi syempre ito ay isa rin sa mga most requested na song kapag ako ay nagpe-perform, kadalasan syempre sa mga wedding.
"Pero it just so happened usually kapag kino-cover ko 'yan sa mga event ay piano. And then sabi ko, 'Oo nga parang maganda nga s'yang gawin sa Chapman Stick.' Naging iba rin talaga 'yung kinalabasan n'ya and I'm happy na na-suggest s'ya ni Sir Kedy because I really also like the song syempre Up Dharma [Down] 'yan 'di ba," Abby said.
"Tadhana" is set to be released on digital music platforms on January 20. It will be available for pre-order on iTunes until January 19.
