Barangay LS 97.1 resident disc jockey Papa Obet has just released his EP under GMA Music titled "Papa Obet Sessions" today, December 10. The four-track EP is now available for streaming on all digital streaming platforms.
"Papa Obet Sessions" has four tracks, “Ikaw Lang At Ako” (composed and originally performed by Janno Gibbs), “Kung Mababalik Ko Lang” by 604, “Kung Malaya Lang Ako” by Kris Lawrence, and Papa Obet’s original composition “Ang Una Kong Pasko.”
The EP is a dream come true for Papa Obet who has manifested his goal of becoming a recording artist, a dream he's had since he was in high school.
During an interview with the Barangay LS 97.1 DJ, he shared how his recording contract took shape.
"Ten years na ako nasa GMA. Sa wakas, sinuwerte rin at nabigyan ng chance maging recording artist.
"Actually, noong 2017 ako unang humingi ng tulong sa GMA Music na ma-distribute nang maayos 'yung music ko.
"Then, nag-release ako ng second single na 'Binibining Kay Ganda,' tinulungan din ako ng GMA Music na ma-release 'yun, tapos binigyan nila ako ng performance sa Spotlight Music Sessions, at naging okay naman.
"After noon, binigyan na nila ako ng offer na maging recording artist.
He added nostalgically, "Kung makikita niyo 'yung yearbook ko nung high school, bukod sa pangalan ng parents ko at birthday ko, may nakasulat na 'To be a successful recording artist.'"
