Hannah Precillas shares her new EP is the fulfillment of her childhood dream
“Pinapangarap ko na sana mangyari sa career ko ‘to.” Hannah Precillas talks about her experience working on her GMA Music EP, ‘Hannah Precillas Sessions’ in this exclusive interview.
Hannah Precillas holds her GMA Music EP close to her heart especially as the Kapuso OST Princess poured her heart and soul into it during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hannah released Hannah Precillas Sessions on May 25. The EP is comprised of three tracks written by hitmaker, Vehnee Saturno, namely “Munting Hiling,” “Hiram na Sandali,” and “Awit ni Inay.” It also features a fresh version of Hannah’s original song, “Sabi Ko Na Nga Ba” which was composed by Jerry Olaguer.
To celebrate the release of her EP, the Kapuso OST Princess went on a video conference with members of Kapuso Brigade.
She shared, “For me, this is very special in a way na ako tinitingnan ko ‘to as another step or another milestone sa aking career, ‘yung love ko sa music. That’s why malaking bagay ‘to for me. Kasi nga this is my first time to release a mini album kasi nga usually ‘di ba lagi tayong single lang, paisa-isang kanta. So this one is really important and a big thing for me kasi nga as a singer siyempre pangarap ko ‘to.
"Pangarap ko simula noong bata palang ako hanggang ngayon. Pinapangarap ko na sana mangyari sa career ko ‘to and eto na, nangyari na siya. So I’m very grateful and thankful sa GMA Music for giving me this opportunity."
Enhancing her artistry in the new normal
To be able to release Hannah Precillas Sessions during the pandemic, Hannah had to step up and record it on her own. Meanwhile, she tapped on the assistance of her handler in shooting the accompanying video performances of her four songs.
According to the Kapuso star, she realized the importance of taking chances for self-development to improve her craft during the pandemic.
“Kailangan talagang matutunan eh. Kahit ako siyempre noong una, ganun din pakiramdam ko na ‘Kaya ko ba ‘to? Paano ba ‘to? Baka naman ano…’ Basta nag-doubt ako sa sarili ko na hindi ko naman siguro dapat matutunan na talagang parang papunta ka na to expert talaga.
"But na-realize ko it is very important na ‘yung kahit hindi naman very high-end ‘yung mga gamit mo, as long as you know sa sarili mo kung paano at kung saan ka magtutunog better, magmumukha maayos pa rin, pleasant pa rin ‘yung video shoots mo.”
She emphasized that the new normal is very far from their old practices where artists only need to appear and warm up their voices, and the rest is almost taken care of.
“Ngayon kasi parang tayo na talaga ang kailangan gumawa on our own sa bahay so it is very important na matutunan natin kahit ‘yung basic lang.”
Hannah began her music career as a Kapuso when she won the TV reality talent show, Bet Ng Bayan back in 2014. She then competed in the Dangdut Academy Asia 5 where she finished second runner-up. The Kapuso OST Princess is still determined to pursue her career in Indonesia.
