Thea Astley, thankful and overwhelmed to be the voice of two 'First Yaya' theme songs

Thea Astley expressed her gratitude after performing the two theme songs of First Yaya titled “Isang Tulad Mo” and “Ang Puso Kong Ito'y Sa'yo.”

Thea hails from the second season of The Clash, finishing as a runner-up to Jeremiah Tiangco. Despite falling short in winning the title, the young Kapuso artist succeeded in jumpstarting her career.

Thea has been a regular in All-Out Sundays, showcasing her musical bravado in the segment 'Queendom' along with the more seasoned singers like Julie Anne San Jose, Aicelle Santos, and Lani Misalucha:

She has also accomplished her first original recordings, after being chosen to be the voice for the theme songs of the hit Kapuso rom-com series starring Sanya Lopez and Gabby Concepcion.

Thea sang First Yaya's “Isang Tulad Mo” and “Ang Puso Kong Ito'y Sa'yo,” and she recently performed the two soundtracks on the GMA Playlist:

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Thea expressed her deep appreciation for this opportunity.

“Hindi ko ma-explain kung gaano ako kasaya and gaano ka-overwhelming 'yung feeling ng gratefulness and pagiging blessed. Di ko talaga inexpect ever that there would come an opportunity like this, to sing a theme song for a big show. Grabe. Kaya sobrang thankful ko and sobrang saya nung time when I recorded it kasi definitely both of the songs are really, really nice and really, really wonderful to listen to. Kaya ayun, 'yung feeling talaga is just thankful.”

Thea further showcased her artistry by explaining where she draws her hugot and inspiration in singing songs.

“I think naman kapag kumakanta ka ng any song, you don't have to have actually experienced 'yung specific na events na mine-mention sa song. So hindi naman kailangang in love ka right now para makakanta ka ng ganung type ng song na 'Isang Tulad Mo' at 'Ang Puso Kong Ito'y Sa'yo.' I think that one of the talents of artists, singers, performers is the fact that they are able to put themselves into other people's shoes. So ini-imagine ko lang kung ano ba 'yung magiging feeling 'pag nandun ka sa ganoong kind of situation. Definitely, meron naman akong experience with other people in my life na may ganung kind of love so I try to put myself in those people's shoes and 'yun 'yung iniisip ko when I was recording the two songs.”
