Moon Dubai is a replica moon that is also set to house several facilities.

For most of us, getting to step on the moon is an experience literally out of our reach. But one might get to experience stepping on a replica one if a project proposed in Dubai pushes through.

Arabian Business reports that Moon World Resorts Inc (MWR), a Canadian architectural company and intellectual property licensor, has proposed a $5 billion moon building destination resort designed to be built in 48 months. Once finished, the building is expected to have a height of 735 feet. The building is expected to accommodate 10 million visitors annually.

According to Michael R. Henderson, one of the co-founders of MWR, Moon Dubai can be a boost to several of Dubai's industries, such as hospitality, entertainment, attractions, education, technology, and space tourism.

Aside from hotel suites, the proposed Moon Dubai is also planned to have a lounge, a “global” meeting place, an events center, a club, and a spa and wellness section. Sky Villas, 300 private residences that come with exclusive club membership at Moon Dubai, will also be available for purchase.

Moon Dubai will also have a “lunar surface,” “lunar colony,” and a “lunar shuttle,” although details on those have not yet been disclosed.

As travel restrictions begin to loosen up, extravagant destinations like Moon Dubai may become more and more common.
