Hotel Jen Manila set to permanently close next week

Hotel Jen, one of the landmark establishments along the stretch of Roxas Boulevard, will be closing permanently at the end of this month.
In a statement delivered to media on Monday, the New Riviera Hotel Development Corporation, which currently owns Hotel Jen, announced that the hotel will operate until August 31 and then permanently close as part of its redevelopment plans.
The statement assured efforts are being made to “support all affected colleagues through this transition,” primarily through a compensation package as well as healthcare insurance coverage until the end of the year.
The hotel management also expressed its gratitude towards their guests, partners, and colleagues for their unwavering support for more than two decades, “particularly during the challenging pandemic years.”
Before it was rebranded to Hotel Jen in 2015, the establishment started out as Traders Hotel in 1995. The rebranding came about because of an international push by Shangri-La International Hotel Management to turn Traders Hotels throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Traders Hotels in Singapore, Hong Kong, Brisbane, and Penang also rebranded at the time.
The closure of Hotel Jen marks the latest closure of a Shangri-La property in the country. Back in 2021, the Makati Shangri-La announced that it would close temporarily, but has not announced a date for reopening since.
The remaining Shangrila-La properties still operating in the country include Shangrila at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City, Edsa Shangri-La in Mandaluyong City, Shangri-La Boracay, and Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu.
