Here's what Andi Eigenmann learned during their first family trip to Bali.

In her recent Happy Islanders vlog, Andi Eigenmann showed her family's entire travel experience going to Bali, Indonesia, and shared a few tips for parents planning to fly out of the country with their kids.

Traveling to another country or city with your kids, especially little ones, can take quite a bit of effort and patience as you are responsible for everything they need. That's why being prepared and taking all things into consideration is key to having a stress-free, hassle-free vacation.

As a first-time traveler with her fiancé Philmar Alipayo and kids Ellie, Lilo, and Koa, Andi was able to figure out a few things that can help lighten the load of parents wanting to do the same.

1. Be early for everything

Andi places huge importance on making an effort to be early for your schedules. She says, “The trip will be so much more of a breeze when you are not in a hurry and there will always be extra time allotted for our kids' unpredictable moods.” Andi also shares that coming to the airport, earlier than on time, can help prevent everyone from being rushed and stressed out.

2. Make it a fun experience for the kids right from the start

For Andi, the trip doesn't have to just start at the destination. The moment you and your family are in transit to the place you're going to is already the trip in itself. She shares, “Make the travel as fun of an experience. Being in transit should be as fun of an experience, hindi yung parang you are just waiting to get to your destination.”

3. Gadgets can be helpful to keep the kids entertained

Andi admits that she and fiancé Philmar Alipayo are not huge fans of screentime on the phone but says that it was a big help for them to keep the kids entertained while waiting. Since you're going to the airport early, expect that you'll be waiting for a while. A film on the tablet or a game can help the kids stay still for a little longer.

4. Pack some snacks for you and your kids

For Andi, snacks can also help alleviate boredom. Andi shares, “Snacks are key! I think even us adults tend to enjoy eating when we are bored. A good way for kids to be entertained as well.” Snacks are also important for your kids to keep their tummies filled.

5. Bring everything your kids need with you

Andi shares that everything their kids need to stay comfortable outside of their home is a must on their essentials list. She says that even though they are light packers, a change of clothes and small blankets for their kids are important to help them enjoy the trip more. Your kids' comfort should be top priority since it will ultimately make or break the mood of the trip.
