This is your sign to explore Southern Luzon!

Being only a few hours drive away from Metro Manila, the provinces of Laguna and Quezon are among the destinations of choice for those who wish to quickly get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

We often associate Laguna and Quezon with family outings and barkada getaways, but the two provinces are also good food spots as they offer unique and distinct local dishes.

San Miguel Foods Culinary Center (SMFCC), the food creative arm of San Miguel Foods, organized a two-day food tour in Laguna and Quezon--the Kulinarya Tagala--last April.

SMFCC Manager Llena Tan Arcenas said the gastronomic tour is aligned with San Miguel Corp.'s push to boost local economic recovery, as well as to promote sustainability.

The tour highlighted the vibrant food tourism of Laguna and Quezon and featured a variety of restaurants serving both traditional local cuisines and those with modern take on known dishes.

Among the must-try restaurants in the two provinces are the quaint Aurora Filipino Cuisine in Sta. Cruz, Laguna and the farm resort Linang ni LK in Lucban, Quezon.

Foodies should also not miss out on the modern Italian restaurant Jardin de Pio in Tayabas; the cozy Everyday Eden in Dolores; and the delectable Antona's Bread and Pastries in Lucena.

And of course, a visit to the South, especially to the Quezon Province, will not be complete without bringing home pasalubong goodies from Rodillas Yema Cake.

Aside from delicious food offerings, the provinces of Laguna and Quezon are also home to beautiful and scenic spots, perfect for a weekend bonding with families and friends.

The picture-perfect Bukid Amara in Lucban, for one, is a must addition to your IG-feed. The farm is also a popular wedding and prenup destination because of its colorful, sprawling bloomscape.

History buffs and lovers of antique pieces are sure to find solace in Sitio de Amor Farm Resort located in San Pablo, Laguna as it boasts of properties filled with heirloom pieces and hand-crafted wooden furniture.

You can also tour the Caluag House of Tomas Morato Sr., built in 1920, located inside the property.
