Check out these abaca footwear worn by celebrities!

Abaca is one of the Philippines' most important products, with the country supplying 85 to 95 percent of the abaca in the world.
The abaca fiber is a popular material used for multiple products ranging from rope, bags, carpets, and clothing. And thanks to a young designer from Marikina, abaca is now also being used to make footwear.
Good News Kasama si Vicky Morales visited the 25-year-old Zedric Zaragoza in Marikina to find out how his abaca footwear - which is now worn by different celebrities - became so popular.
Zedric's childhood dream began in Marikina, the country's shoe capital. Because of his desire to buy his parents an air-conditioning unit, Zedric studied how to make shoes and how to make them unique compared to other products in the market. This is where abaca came in.
According to Zedric, the abaca footwear's initial target market was the Philippines. However, during the first four months of them selling their abaca footwear, they were never able to make any sales. Nevertheless, this did not discourage Zedric, who turned to social media to introduce his products to the world. Because of this, orders from countries like Australia, Japan, and New Zealand started coming in.
Since then, Zedric and his family now had a physical store in Marikina, although buyers can still buy from the brand's social media. The brand now has celebrity endorsers as well, which include basketball players Jio Jalalon, Raymond Almazan, and Beau Belga. Even former Miss World Megan Young has been seen wearing Zedric abaca footwear.
Thanks to the profits from abaca footwear, Zedric has now been able to establish a restaurant in Marikina.
