The retail store prides itself on offering quality, affordable products.

A new home and lifestyle retail brand has launched a store in the country. Just in time for the holiday shopping rush, Australia's Anko opened its first Philippine store in Makati.

Located at Glorietta 2, Anko has a wide selection of affordable but trendy and high-quality products such as homeware, storage solutions, beauty products, fitness gear, baby items, children's toys, electronics, pet essentials, and even stationery.

Speaking to the press at the store's opening last Thursday, Anko Philippines Country Manager Rachel Turner expressed her excitement about Anko finally arriving on local shores.

"We know that we have really beautiful products that we think the local market is really going to engage with," she said.

Turner continued, "I'm really excited to see how the customers respond to our product range but I know they're going to really enjoy it."

Turner said their curated range of products is "designed-led and fashion-focused" while being sold at affordable prices, with their lowest price point starting at P20.

"I'm so excited to see the customers surprised and delighted by our prices when they visit," she mused.

Anko Global CEO Arjun Puri said Anko works directly with manufacturers to ensure they stay committed to their promise of offering hip, high-quality products at lower costs.

"We do not work with any middleman in between. Our sourcing officers are across all over the world and we work directly with manufacturers," he explained.

Puri also noted that the Anko store in Manila offers the same products and product lines as with their stores in Australia and New Zealand.

Anko even offers tech and electronics products.

Puri is optimistic about the Philippine market and looks to further expand the Anko brand in the country long-term.

"We feel [that] the Philippines has a lot of long-term potential in terms of how many stores we can open," he said.

Meanwhile, Puri said they are focusing on their physical store for now and are not planning to offer Anko's products online and in e-commerce websites at the moment.

"We just want to focus completely on in-store, we'll see how that goes, and at the right time, we will be able to offer the products online," he added.

Anko also has its own life of beauty products.

Established in 2017, Anko is part of the Kmart Group, which includes Kmart Australia, Target Australia, and Anko Global, and has over 350 stores in Australia and New Zealand.
