Studio Ghibli releases perfumes based on its famous heroines

Ghibli fans, rejoice! Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli is once again bringing the magic of their films out of the screens and into shop shelves. The studio released new perfumes inspired by its heroines.
For fans who are curious what Ghibli characters smell like, this new product is the answer. Studio Ghibli partnered with Japanese fragrance brand Fernanda to develop three new body splash perfumes that capture the scents of the films Whisper of the Heart, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Howl's Moving Castle.
Whisper of the Heart is a film that revolves around the life of heroine Shizuku, who has a knack for literary writing and reading books. Her fragrance, named "Classic Tea," has notes of classical and delicate early grey with a hint of fresh yuzu.

Kiki's Delivery Service, on the other hand, is a film that tells the story of 13-year-old Kiki, a young witch navigating life on her own. Kiki's fragrance called "Maria Rigel" is said to be a watery scent that has sweet and rich notes of jasmine and pear.

Finally, Howl's Moving Castle is a fan-favorite and tells the life of Sophie, a hat maker, who meets the wizard Howl whom she develops a special relationship with. Sophie's scent, named "White Bouquet," has a floral scent with notes of elegant lily and soothing cedar wood.

Scenes from the films are also showcased on the label of each 95 ml body splash bottles. Each costs JPY 2,200 or PHP 862.54 based on current price exchange rates. The perfumes are available for purchase via www.donguri-sora.com.
This is just one of the many collaborations Studio Ghibli worked on to bring the magic of their films to life. Recently, it also collaborated with American denim brand Levi's for the denim collection inspired by the film Princess Mononoke.
Earlier this year, it also launched ceramic pots and kitchenware collection that paid homage to films My Neighbour Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service.
The launch of the new perfume collection comes right after the success of Hayao Miyazaki's last film How Do You Live? which was released last July. The film only had one promotional material but went on to sweep records and is now officially the second highest-grossing opener for Studio Ghibli film in Japan.
The magic of Ghibli truly makes every day a little more special.
