For Kryz Uy, mistakes don't make you unfit to become a mom to your kid.

In a recently vlog on her YouTube channel, blogger and style icon Kryz Uy gets real and raw as she shared a few mistakes she made as a mom and the things she learned from these.

Her video's description reads, “After a month with my second baby, I quickly learned and realized that I [got] so many things wrong. With my first, Scott, I always complained that he wasn't a good sleeper and that he would feed every hour all day. I wasn't getting any sleep or rest, and I was constantly anxious trying to figure out what was wrong. With my second baby, Sevi, however, things are the opposite! He is so calm. He sleeps [six to eight-]hour stretches at night at just [six] weeks old. He hardly cries for long stretches of time and naps well in the day. We didn't get on this schedule with Scottie until about [five] months! So what did i do wrong the first time around? Watch and learn. Hopefully this video helps you out too if you are a struggling mama. I surely know how it feels. But before trying any of my tips, don't forget that it's still best to consult your doctor. Goodluck parents!”

At the start of the video, Kryz shares that one of the mistakes she made when she was a first-time mom to her firstborn Scottie was not giving him the proper sleeping environment.

Listening to other people's advice that she should train Scottie to sleep anywhere, despite the noise, made it harder for her to make him fall asleep. Since babies are used to being inside the dark womb of their mothers, naturally, they wouldn't want a lot of light and noise around them.

“Now with the amount of research that I've done and also with the experience that I have, Sevi sleeps in his own room, we put the white noise on. We close the blinds, sometimes we let a little light peek in so that he knows the difference between nap time and evening time. So it's like a very womb-like environment,” Kryz shares.

She also says, “You can't force your baby to be adaptive because that doesn't work that way. Creating the perfect sleep environment will definitely help with the baby's sleep.”

Another thing Kryz learned is that sometimes parents intervene too much. Kryz shares, “With Scottie, every little noise he makes I instantly go in and tap him or shush him or make sure he's okay I was super duper panicky. Now, I've learned that babies are usually in the REM sleep or rapid eye movement sleep and babies are really fussy when they sleep.”

“As adults when we are in the REM sleep, our body is somehow part paralyzed so that we don't injure ourselves this is based on some research but babies don't have that part paralysis of their body so when they are in that state they are [going to] fuss, they are [going to] be whiny, they are [going to] be moving,” she further explains.

Kryz is not saying to dismiss your kid all at once if they start crying or whining but instead, before giving comfort, observe them first. She explains, “If you come in and rush to pat them back to sleep or to carry them because you think they're not comfortable then you could possibly be waking them up, your anxiety and the worrying in your head are actually the cause of why your baby can't sleep. If you let them be they are able to connect these sleep cycles on their own they're more likely to fall asleep back on their own. I'm gonna give him that room to fuss, I'm gonna give him that time to tell me what he really needs I'm gonna observe him first before rushing in and imposing what I think he needs to comfort.”

Kryz also realized that as a parent you shouldn't be overanalyzing everything. She admits she used to be that by-the-book mom where everything should be planned out or on schedule. That's why she's grateful for her husband, Slater Young, who balances her out.

She says Slater tells her and reminds her that babies cry and that's normal. “Sometimes we can suit them, sometimes we can't and that's just life. Take it easy, take it one day at a time, and don't beat yourself up,” she states.

Lastly, Kryz realized that it's okay if not everything is perfect. She shares, “Having a perfect life for your kids is not actually so good for them because if you schedule out or map out everything for them how will they deal with life's adversities. They need to learn that sometimes their routines need to get broken.”

Along with that Kryz reminds parents to let their kids discover life on their own. “If you're always there for them if you let them live in a bubble you're actually doing them a disservice you're actually making it harder for them to be resilient to life's changes,” she shares.

There's no one way to parenting as parents and kids vary from one family to another but at the end of the day, Kryz believes both you and your kid should be happy and content.
