Baby Araneta Fores passes away

Maria Lourdes “Baby” Araneta Fores, once considered as one of the best-dressed women in the country, passed away over the weekend at the age of 84.
Baby's daughter Margarita “Gaita” Fores made the announcement on her Instagram account, where she posted a photo of her mother and wrote the caption “My Mother. My Rock. My Everything. Maria Araneta Forés July 28,1938-March 25,2023.” Margarita “Gaita” Fores is a renowned Filipino chef who is also the owner of the popular Italian restaurant CIBO.
Baby Araneta was part of the Araneta clan that owns the Araneta Center in Quezon City. Her father, Amado Araneta, was behind the building of the Araneta Coliseum, which at one point in history was the largest domed building in the world.
The Philippine Tatler dubbed her as the “Legendary Philippine Style Icon” and recalled her time in New York. According to the article, Baby once walked down Madison Avenue in Manhattan wrapped in batik.
Celebrities have already expressed their condolences on Gaita Fores' Instagram post. Some of the celebrities that have left a comment include Iya Villania, Charlene Gonzales, ZsaZsa Padilla, and Charo Santos.
Former Vice President Leni Robredo, Edu Manzano, and Jaya have also left messages of condolence on the post.
