King Charles III names William and Kate as Prince and Princess of Wales

On September 9, King Charles addressed the nation for the first time as crowned King following Queen Elizabeth II's death.
As he paid tribute and thanked his mother, the king also named William and Kate as Prince and Princess of Wales. His eldest son is the successor to the crown.
Before becoming king, Charles also held the same title he bestowed on his son, and he is in fact, the longest serving Prince of Wales in the United Kingdom.
On September 8, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96. The whole world was saddened by the death of the UK's longest reigning queen including celebrities. She reigned for more than 70 years.
After her death, preparations for the transfer of the crown were put in motion and her son, Charles, is now king. The official crowning ceremony will be held today, September 10.
Prince William is the son of King Charles with late wife, Princess Diana.
