Ubisoft Philippines recently moved from Santa Rosa in Laguna to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City. After six years in Southern Luzon, the video game publisher is now located in one of the biggest business districts in Metro Manila.

According to the company's founder and studio manager, Chip Go, the reason for the move is to bring the studio closer to talent.

“It's really to bring us closer to talent. The talent is here. The biggest universities are here. The biggest corporations are here. In Laguna it was great, lots of greenery, but hindi siya madaling mapuntahan (it's not easily accessible),” he said in an interview with GMA LIfestyle during the studio's official opening.

Ubisoft Philippines was founded in 2016 and the company has since co-developed several AAA games like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, For Honor, The Crew, among others.

Located at The Finance Center, the 1,700-square-meter office can accommodate 200 employees. The office has its own gaming area, arcade, pantry, coffee room, and a speakeasy that is actually a meeting room.

“We always say our 'workplace is our playground.' When we were designing our space, we wanted it to reflect our dedication to providing our team with an inspiring environment to create memorable gaming experiences,” explained studio art director JP Tan.

According to Chip, they are actively recruiting for talent and are looking to fill seats in their new office in BGC.

“Since our start, we have brought our Filipino flavor. There's something about our creativity that we try to express in the product that we make. It really comes across, you've all seen in the animation. We are solidifying our contribution and we want to contribute more,” he said.

On Monday, April 21, Catholics worldwide were greeted with the unfortunate news that Pope Francis has died. The Vatican announced his passing on the same day. According to reports, the Pope passed due to "stroke, followed by a coma and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse." He was 88. But even hours before his death, the Pope did not falter to serve the people and call for peace. He was also able to attend Easter Sunday on April 20 and appeared on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica. “I appeal once again for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, for the release of the hostages… and for access to humanitarian aid,” said the Pope. The Bangsamoro Government likewise released a statement on his death and called him a “beacon of hope.” The Bangsamoro Government wrote, “The news of his passing brings profound sadness as Pope Francis was a beacon of hope and a tireless advocate for peace, justice, and interfaith dialogue. Testament to this were his persistent and heartfelt appeals for peace in the Middle East, especially in the face of atrocities in Palestine.” “He was a source of moral clarity as he continuously urged world leaders to depart from war and instead seek peaceful resolutions. These were not mere pronouncements, but a call to action and a reminder of our shared humanity,” the government body added.
