Davao-based talent SUJI qualifies for a national dance competition

The Philippine leg of the international mixed-style dance competition, Red Bull Dance Your Style, recently named its newest regional qualifier in an excruciating battle on March 22.
After rounds of head-to-head battles with other Filipino dancers, SUJI claimed victory for the Davao qualifiers.
He claimed the attention of the crowd, who also served as judges, with his technicality and commanding stage presence.
In a statement, SUJI said he did not set any expectations for the competition.
“My mindset was plain and simple,” said SUJI. “I didn't have much expectation, I just wanted to be here.”
SUJI also shared his tactics that helped him get the crown for the Davao qualifiers: “I observed the other dancers and how they would play from their rounds before our battle. So, I tried to figure out how our battle round would play out.” SUJI added, “I see it as two dancers communicating; it's more than just movement. There is no verbal connection, only kinesthetics.”
Following his feat, SUJI will fly to Cebu for the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Finals on May 24, where he will dance his heart out against qualifiers from Manila and Cebu.

Although SUJI is still months away from the National Finals, his mind is set on one goal: the experience.
“For me, I just want to stick to something that I'm already sure of. Win or lose, I'm after the experience. I want to see how people would react to what I do or what I offer (during the competition),” SUJI said in a statement.
Meanwhile, registration for the Dance Your Style Manila and Cebu qualifiers is now open via Red Bull's official website. They are happening on April 25 and May 17, respectively.
These events will determine who will join SUJI and other Davao qualifiers at the National Finals in Cebu.
The dancers who claim victory in the National Finals will represent the Philippines at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals in Los Angeles, California, on October 11, 2025.
