Alex Eala after Miami Open feat: 'The real work starts now'

Filipina tennis prodigy Alex Eala reflected back on her dream run in the Miami Open 2025, and said, "the real work starts now."
The 19-year-old tennis star shared on Instagram snaps from her historic Miami Open feat, along with her musings about the milestone competition.
Alex said this year's Miami Open left her "speechless and so full of emotion, mostly pride and gratitude."
"I'm proud of myself for pushing through those tough moments, as well as to have been able to make a statement for the Philippines in one of the biggest stages of tennis," she continued.
Alex also expressed her gratitude for the support and encouragement she received during the competition.
"Moreover, I'm thankful for all the positivity coming my way, and I pray that you all continue sending support through the highs and lows. Salamat sa lahat ng pagdadasal at magagandang mensahe," she said.
In the latter part of her caption, Alex highlighted how the recent tennis competition opened a lot of opportunities for her, as well as new challenges to conquer.
"I recognize that these two weeks have opened the door to so many opportunities for me, but along with those opportunities come a whole new set of obstacles I will have to navigate through. The real work starts now," she concluded.
Alex ended her run at the Miami Open 2025 on Friday, March 28, after losing in the semifinals to world No. 4 Jessica Pegula.
Alex previously booked a ticket to the semis after defeating world No. 2 and five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Alex's Miami Open 2025 performance significantly improved her WTA rankings to No. 75, a huge leap from her previous 140 ranking.
