Lowbrow Casual Restaurants apology
Netizens accused Lowbrow Casual Restaurants of insensitivity towards those who suffer from invisible disabilities.

After an inflammatory post trivializing the situation of people with invisible disabilities, a restaurant group is now apologizing on social media.

In one of the more recent posts on its Facebook account, Lowbrow Casual Restaurants, the restaurant group uploaded an apology acknowledging the anger that a previous post of theirs had generated among netizens. The post acknowledged that their post trivialized a sensitive issue and promised that it would not repeat it again.

The post that the restaurant group is referring to has now been deleted, but it was about the ongoing issue about fake PWD (Persons with Disability) IDs and how some people abuse it. One image in the post asked the restaurant group's social media followers to pick which “mental health patient” deserves a discount, with the choices being someone “compelled to butcher & eat his coworker”, someone who wants to “overdose 2x a day”, and someone who “gets anxiety attacks around obese pugs”. Another image in the post called on followers to break their leg, “become truly disabled” and show others how “superior” their disability is, as well as to call those with fake PWD IDs “Satan”.

The outrage that the post generated from those suffering from invisible disabilities led to the apology, which isn't being received well by netizens if the comments on the post are any indication. Comments range from those pointing out that the post is expressing frustration at PWD IDs and not even fake PWD IDs, as well as calls for a boycott of their connected brands, which include the restaurants Bad Bird, Fowlbread, Flowerboy, and Thank You Seafood.

Lowbrow Casual Restaurants' statement came after the Restaurant Owners of the Philippines called out netizens who use fake PWD cards to get discounts.

Lowbrow Casual Restaurants is just the latest food establishment to apologize over a viral social media post. Back in September last year, Tagaytay restaurant Balay Dako issued an apology after it was accused of breed prejudice after denying marketing manager Lara L. Antonio's aspin Yoda entry to the establishment after initially being assured that it was okay.

According to Lara's social media posts, Balay Dako did not have a clear pet policy on which dogs are allowed and not allowed in the establishment. Lara also alleged that her dog's breed played a part in the refusal since other breeds like Labradors were allowed in the restaurant.
