Gong Yoo returns as recruiter in 'Squid Game 2'

Hit Korean Netflix series Squid Game welcomes October with a bang by releasing a new teaser for the show's new season.
On Tuesday, October 1, the streaming company released a teaser that shows the return of a key character from the first season, played by Korean drama star Gong Yoo.
The teaser starts with clips of a man in his apartment doing his morning routine. He is seen sipping coffee, taking a shower, and carefully choosing his suit for the day.
But as he prepares his briefcase and grabbing items from his safe deposit box, the teaser slowly reveals that the man is actually Squid Game recruiter Gong Yoo packing red and blue ddakji.
Ddakji is a South Korean toy made of paper used in a game of ddakji -- the game Gong Yoo played with Player 456/Seong Gi-hun, portrayed by Lee Jung-jae.
Gong Yoo also played the game of ddakji with other contestants as a way to recruit them into joining the deadly contest.
Alongside Gong Yoo's ddakji were stacks of cash and his infamous calling cards.
He later arrives at a train station where he would do his recruitment and as the clock strikes at 5:00, Gong Yoo talks to the camera and says, “Sir, would you like to play a game with me?”
Squid Game 2 is set to be released on the December 26 this year, three years since its record-breaking first season in 2021.
According to a teaser released last year, Lee Byung-hun and Wi Ha-jun will reprise their roles as the Front Man and Hwang Jun-ho respectively.
Meanwhile, some of the new players joining the cast are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun, and a special role played by Gong Yoo.
