'Emily in Paris' renewed for fifth season; hints possible shift to Rome

The highly popular Netflix series, Emily in Paris, is confirmed to return with its fifth season, still starring American actress Lily Collins.
Netflix announced the news at the start of the week and teased fans with a clip of Emily sipping tea from a teacup that has the text “Emily in Paris” on its body and number five (5) on the bottom of the cup.
However, the teaser hinted at a possible huge change in Emily's life as she said the words, “There's no place like Rome!”
The streaming app also wrote on its official Facebook account, “[E]mily in [R]ome? [It] has a nice ring to it.”
“[S]he's coming back for season 5,” Netflix added.
But fans do not need to worry as Emily in Paris creator, Darren Star, confirmed that Emily is not moving to Rome in Italy, but she will surely spend some time in the city, especially now that she has found a new connection with Italian fashion scion Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).
“Emily's going to have a presence in Rome,” Darren told Netflix Tudum, “It doesn't mean she's not going to be in Paris, but she's going to have a presence in Rome.”
He also said that the upcoming season will explore Emily and Marcello's blooming romance.
Netflix Tudum quoted Darren, “I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that's going to continue to play out next season.”
Just like the creator and fans of the show, Lily Collins is also looking forward to how the upcoming season will play out, especially with the addition of Marcello's character.
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” Lilly said in a statement, “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay (vacation) mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
The final cast and release date are yet to be announced.
