Nicole Asensio to release new song about women empowerment

Women all over the world continue to celebrate International Women's Month in their own, beautiful ways. Even celebrities like Filipina actress and singer Nicole Laurel Asensio is releasing and empowering new song dedicated to women.
Last March 19, Nicole held a pre-launch of her newest song “I Know My Worth” which she calls an “anthem” for modern women who know and understand their worth no matter what everyone around them says.
Nicole's initiative to release “I Know My Worth” was pushed by her unfortunate encounters with people who “degraded” her on and off stage, as well as the “catcalls, lewd gestures, and awful chauvinistic comments online.”
Nicole collaborated with the amazing artists of Saxdiva, Vanessa Celestial (trombone), Yanni Diola (backup vocals) and Yuna (bass) for the song. She also worked with international singer-songwriter and producer Sam Akins who produced “I Know My Worth.”
Although they only met during the pandemic, Sam lauded Nicole's excellence in singing and her initiative in making ways to recognize women in the music industry.
“I am not a woman, but I look around me and see a whole lot of pressure on women and a lot less appreciation for their skill and hard work. I have been opportune to work with some incredible women in the industry, and they do inspire me, but I also can't help but notice the disparity.” Sam said.
He also shared an experience when he stayed in the Philippines and noticed that only one woman made it among the top 10 most streamed artists in the country. He said: “I glance at the current 10 most streamed artists in the Philippines at the moment, [and] there is currently only one woman on the list, I feel like more women need recognition.”
Nicole saw the problem in the music industry and gave a hard push to launch “I Know My Worth” together with Vanessa, Yanni, and Yuna of Saxdiva. After the pre-launch last March 19, which was held at 12 Monkeys, Estancia Mall, Nicole will release her newest song on all online streaming platforms this March 29.
