The 10 richest cities in the Philippines

The biggest city in Metro Manila is also the country's wealthiest.

In the 2022 Commission on Audit (COA) Annual Financial Report, Quezon City was named as the richest city in the country with a total of P443.406 billion in assets. It is the city's third year to top the list.

Quezon City is the biggest city in Metro Manila and is the former capital of the Philippines. It is home to some of the major universities in the Philippines including University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila University. It is also home to the country's largest shopping mall, SM North EDSA, and soon, the Philippines' first central station catering to four commuter railway lines.

Trailing behind Quezon City is Makati City with P239.478 billion in assets, followed by the country's capital, the City of Manila with P77.506 billion in assets. In fourth place is Pasig City with P52.152 billion in assets and then Taguig City with P40.840 billion worth of assets.

Makati City is one of the country's top business districts, home to skyscrapers and major offices of local and international companies. The City of Manila is the country's seat of power where Malacanang Palace is located. It is also home to major universities, shopping districts, national museums, and the world's oldest Chinatown.

Pasig City, on the other hand, is home to one of the country's first business districts, Ortigas Center. Taguig City, is home to one of the most modern districts in Metro Manila, the Bonifacio Global City, where the Philippine Stock Exchange office is located.

In sixth place is Mandaue City in Cebu and it is the wealthiest city outside of Metro Manila with P34.231 billion in assets. It is followed by Cebu City with P30.545 billion in assets. Rounding the top 10 are: Mandaluyong City (P32.550B), Davao City (P29.701B), and Parañaque City (P27.376B), placing eighth, ninth, and 10th, respectively.
