Kyle “Kulas” Jennermann of Becoming Filipino has now, finally, become Filipino.

Filipinos are known for their incredible hospitality, and now they have another person to welcome into the family as popular YouTuber and online personality Kyle Jennermann, more popularly known as Kulas of Becoming Filipino, is now officially a Filipino.

In a lengthy post on his Facebook account, Kulas shared his joy at what he describes as the “beginning of the most important part” of his life.

“I am ready for this. I am filled with belief, inspiration, gratefulness, and love,” he wrote.

Kulas' journey towards naturalization - the legal act that a non-citizen of a country acquires citizenship or nationality - began earlier this year with Biñan, Laguna Representative Len Alonte, who filed House Bill 1764 or the naturalization for Kulas. The representative noted Kulas' work in introducing the Philippines to the rest of the world and said his “contributions to the promotion of Filipino culture and identity to the rest of the world make him deserving to be a naturalized Filipino”.

In a Facebook post, Kulas said the hearing discussing his naturalization last February was “incredibly emotional” and has left him grateful for the opportunity to share about his life in the Philippines and his deep appreciation for the country.

Aside from thanking Alonte - who administered his oath of allegiance to the country - Kulas also expressed his gratitude to the “Titos and Titas from Cebu and Cagayan de Oro” with him, the Filipino families who took him in, as well as to the Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines David Hartman, who he says reminded him how important it is to be proud of where he is from and to stay connected.

Kulas also proudly shares that the Barong Tagalog he wore for the event was made from bamboo and designed by Francis Libiran and developed by the country's own Department of Science and Technology.
