The Filipino Festival call on aspiring Filipino fashion designers

There's no shortage of creativity when it comes to Filipino designers, and now these designers have the opportunity to show their work in an event that could take their designs to the international stage.
The Miss Universe Philippines Instagram account put up a post for The Filipino Festival, with a graphic calling for fashion designers to participate in the festival's Fashion Fest. Interested applicants are asked to email a brief introduction of themselves, high-resolution sketches of casual, formal, and summer wear looks, as well as a description of their designs to thefilipinofestival@empire.ph.
Aside from a spotlight during The Filipino Festival, the post said that winning designers will “get the chance to work with Miss Universe Philippines, The Miss Philippines, and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide.”
The Filipino Festival is set to launch this October and is “a celebration of everything Filipino from food, arts and crafts, music, fashion, film, and even pageants.”
Aside from the Fashion Fest, the festival will also feature the Filipino Food Festival that hopes to bring lesser known dishes of the country to the forefront; the Filipino Arts and Crafts Festival that will feature Filipino products; the Filipino Music Festival that will feature Filipino music; and the Filipino Film Festival that seeks to launch the careers of film students.
The Miss Philippines pageant will also be part of the festival, with Pauline Amelinckx as its first titleholder. The pageant promises to bring in delegates from Filipino communities around the world to promote Filipino culture and heritage, with The Miss Philippines California already being announced.
The Miss Philippines California would be the third pageant the Miss Universe Philippines organization has introduced, following The Miss Philippines and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide. The group also teased the possibility of the next Miss Universe Philippines being a “Fil-Am beauty”.
Meanwhile, current Miss Universe Philippines titleholder Michelle Dee is preparing hard for the upcoming Miss Universe coronation night in Ecuador on November 18.
During an interview aired on Unang Hirit, Michelle expressed her excitement about the Miss Universe coronation night and also shared that she and the Miss Universe Philippines team are polishing her performance for the pageant.
“Sabihin nating perfect na, mas kaya pang i-perfect. Obviously, I have so much trust in my team, I have much trust in the organization,” she said. “We all know I love giving a show and I love looking the part as well, so abangan niyo talaga.”
