Elon Musk announces iconic Twitter bird logo will now change to an 'X'

Twitter users are once again bracing themselves for another jarring change to the social media site as its owner, Elon Musk, has announced that the site's iconic bird logo will now be replaced with an "X."
Musk made the announcement in a series of tweets made yesterday, starting off by tweeting “And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” It was then followed by tweets about a possible new logo, as well as a tweet where Musk said that he has always liked the letter X.

Musk's tweets were followed by tweets from new Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino, who described the upcoming change as “transforming the global town square.”
It's an exceptionally rare thing - in life or in business - that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.

In an interview with the Associated Press, marketing consultancy company Metaforce co-founder Allen Adamson had a dour outlook with regards to the change, noting that previous changes Musk has done to the platform has already driven a lot of users and advertisers away.
“They won't get it,” he said. “It's a fitting end to a phenomenal unwinding of an iconic brand and business.”
Not losing any more users is crucial to Twitter's survival, especially since competitors like Threads have launched and drawn millions of users to them within a day. The threat Threads poses to Twitter has even resulted in Twitter threatening to sue Meta, the company that owns Threads, for allegedly “unlawfully” using Twitter's intellectual property and other trade secrets.
Any more declines in the value of Twitter will also heavily impact Musk's standing as the world's richest man.
At the start of the year, the Guinness World Records organization declared that Elon Musk has broken the record for the “largest loss of personal fortune in history” after losing as much as $182 billion due to the continued devaluation of Tesla stock, caused in part by Musk's purchase of Twitter for $44 billion as he sold $4 billion worth of Tesla stock to fund the Twitter acquisition.
MEANWHILE, LET'S TAKE A LOOK BACK AT TWEETS THAT MADE A MARK.
