MrBeast reveals he would have been on ill-fated Titan submersible

If things had turned out differently, one of the victims of the tragic Titan disaster would have been immensely popular YouTuber MrBeast.
In a tweet, MrBeast (real name Jimmy Donaldson) shared a text message inviting him to take part in a trip to the Titanic. He captioned it with “I was invited earlier this month to ride the titanic submarine, I said no. Kind of scary that I could have been on it.”

As has been reported everywhere, the Titan is a submersible built by OceanGate Expeditions to provide trips to the Titanic to adventurous guests. The submersible went missing on June 18 just one hour and 45 minutes into its descent.
It was only a few days later that the US Coast Guard confirmed that the Titan had suffered a “catastrophic implosion” that took the lives of its five passengers, which include British billionaire Hamish Harding and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman.
Since the incident, numerous stories about the quality of the Titan came out in the media. In particular, Titanic director and deep-sea explorer James Cameron told ABC News that OceanGate had been previously warned about the safety of the Titan but had ignored those warnings.
"I'm struck by the similarity of the Titanic disaster itself, where the captain was repeatedly warned about ice ahead of his ship, and yet he steamed at full speed into an ice field on a moonless night, and many people died as a result," he said. "And for a very similar tragedy, where warnings went unheeded, to take place at the same exact site, with all the diving that's going on all around the world, I think it's just astonishing. It's really quite surreal."
MrBeast is a popular American YouTuber who became known in 2018 for giving small YouTubers and streamers money. In November last year, he achieved a YouTube milestone after gaining more than 111 million subscribers, overtaking Pewdiepie, the previous most subscribed channel on the platform.
