NewJeans's Danielle to voice Ariel in Korean-dubbed 'The Little Mermaid'
Danielle of the K-pop girl group NewJeans will be taking the role of Ariel in the Korean-dubbed version of the live action of the classic Disney animation, The Little Mermaid.
An article by Soompi said Walt Disney Company Korea shared the exciting news on May 12.
“Danielle will take on the role of Ariel and showcase a new side of herself by dubbing and singing for [the film's] original soundtrack,” the company was quoted in the article.
“We expect that Danielle, who is similar in age with and whose cheerful image resembles that of Ariel in the film, will bring out the charm of teenage girl Ariel who is bubbly and full of curiosity,” the company continued.
Disney Korea posted the snippet of Danielle's version of the movie's popular song, “Part of Your World,” on their Instagram and YouTube channel.
The official Instagram page of NewJeans likewise shared the teaser.
The live action film of The Little Mermaid, which stars Halle Bailey, will premiere in Korea on May 24.
Meanwhile, in January, Danielle was named as the newest Global Ambassador for the luxury fashion brand Burberry.
