New 'Barbie' trailer gives fans a glimpse of what to expect from Greta Gerwig's live-action remake

The year 2023 is definitely good for cinephiles with the number of highly-anticipated films coming out this year. One of which is filmmaker Greta Gerwig's live-action remake of the iconic Barbie doll every little girl grew up with.
Last 2022, Warner Bros. Pictures gave fans a glimpse of Margot Robbie as Barbie in a short teaser trailer that paid homage to the late Stanley Kubrick and his iconic film 2001: A Space Odyssey. A few months later, they finally released a more lengthy teaser trailer for Barbie.
The new trailer featured the cotton-candy pink, plastic-themed Barbie Land and its residents, Barbies and Kens. Fans saw a wide range of Barbie and Ken dolls as well as Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling who are Barbie and Ken in their own right.
The trailer also saw a riot on the beach featuring Simu Liu, who's also a Ken; Barbie sorority sisters; and Barbie Margot Robbie and Ken Ryan Gosling driving away from Barbie Land and setting off to the so-called “Real World.”
Although fans are still trying to pin down and puzzle together the entire vibe of Barbie, Warner Bros. Pictures wrote in the description, “To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you're a Ken.”
In an interview with British Vogue, Margot Robbie also admitted, “People generally hear 'Barbie' and think, 'I know what that movie is going to be,' and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they're like, 'Oh, well, maybe I don't…'”
Well, maybe we truly don't. But having been directed by the Greta Gerwig, famous for her films Little Women and Lady Bird, we're setting high expectations for the nostalgia-inducing film.
Barbie is set to be released on July 21 and is undeniably one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2023, especially with its stellar cast which includes Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Ariana Greenblatt, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell.
