Living in small spaces, may it be because of the need for independence or to reside near a workplace and beat the continuous upsurge of fuel prices, does not hinder anyone from being functional and content.

Stereotypically seen as non-conducive and limiting, small spaces have their own hidden beauty and importance often overlooked. They can provide just as much as what huge spaces can offer, may it be a full kitchen or a spacious living area with regular-sized or even large furniture. Especially now that you are living in a modern world where the possibilities are endless and the internet is your oyster.

For designers of Never Too Small, a YouTube channel showcasing award-winning designers and their tiny/micro apartments, the key to working with a small space is to design it based on your personality, needs, and space.

One of the most essential things to understanding your space is knowing its roots. The history of the place, why it was built. A conscious comprehension of your environment and what you're dealing with.

Then from there, identify your needs and align them with your space. Do you need a full size kitchen? A separate working station? Or to build a separation between your living area and bedroom?

Subsequently, incorporate aspects of who you are into the space. Ask yourself how your space will come across to others and to you. When you look at it, do you see you? Parallel your identity to your space and your needs.

Truth be told, it will require a lot of strategizing and pondering from your end to turn your space into what you want it to be. But if it's a place where you can feel the most at home, safe, mentally and physically healthy isn't it worth it? Of course, it is!

To motivate you to work on your dream space, here's a round up of smart design ideas as shown on Never Too Small you can take inspiration from:
