Solenn Heussaff gets real about living a healthy lifestyle

Prior to contrary belief, living a healthy lifestyle isn't just all about consuming healthy food. Kapuso host and actress Solenn Heussaff says it's a balance of everything in your life.
In a recent interview with Solenn during the Quaker Oats cook-off with TV host Luis Manzano, the Kapuso star revealed that even though she and her husband Nico Bolzico have been living healthy for a long time now, she still occasionally eats her favorite crispy pata.
“A healthy lifestyle is a balanced lifestyle. So, you need to be able to do all the things you want in a day, you need to be able to balance the good and the bad. Like when it comes to food, I'm not saying I don't eat fried crispy pata, I enjoy my crispy pata but I make sure not to eat it every day,” Solenn shares.
For the artist, a balance between healthy and non-healthy food is vital for you to sustain this type of lifestyle. Simply put, if you eat too much of the good without allowing yourself to give in to your wants, you'll end up craving more of the unhealthy food.

Solenn debunks stereotypes about what “healthy” means as she shares, “I think people, in general, have a misconception when it comes to [the word] 'healthy.' They think it's boring, it's bland. They think you can't do anything and it's difficult and extensive.”
“It's all about balanced portions and about proper exercise even if it's a 20-minute walk a day. It doesn't need to be an intense HIT (high-intensity training) workout in the gym,” she further explains.

Along with that, Solenn believes that what makes up a healthy lifestyle, apart from balancing good and bad food and exercising regularly, is taking care of your mental health.
Talking to someone while on your journey toward living a healthy lifestyle and surrounding yourself with supportive people is helpful in maintaining one. Solenn also places huge importance on being gentle with yourself, especially when it comes to working out.

She says, “People need to start at their level. Don't compare yourself to others and then from there, things will just move naturally.”
With this approach, Solenn gets to lead her entire family including Nico, Tili, and Pochola (their pet dog) into a healthy lifestyle without that much effort.
