Study shows rapper Logic's song may have prevented hundreds of suicides

They say that a song can change someone's life but in the case of rapper Logic's song “1-800-273-6255,” it may have actually saved a life - or hundreds of them.
According to a study published in the British Medical Journal, the song and the public attention it received upon release resulted in an additional 9,915 calls to the US National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, whose number is 1-800-273-6255. The study also said that there was a reduction in the number of suicides in the United States during the release of the song.
Researchers said that there was a 10 percent increase in Google searches for Lifeline during the song's release in April 2017.
At the height of its popularity, there was a 6.9 percent increase in the calls made to Lifeline. The study also found that there were 295 fewer suicides during the same time period, or a 5.5 percent decrease.
The song features Alessia Cara and Khalid and peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also nominated for Song of the Year and Best Music Video at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
