'World's Best Restaurant' Noma to close down in 2024

Foodies who may have been planning to check out critically-acclaimed Danish restaurant Noma may have lose their chance to do so unless they move quickly as the restaurant has announced it would close down in 2024.
On announcements posted on its website and social media accounts, the restaurant said that “Winter 2024 will be the last season of noma as we know it.” The restaurant then explained that it would embark on “noma 3.0,” which involves transforming the restaurant into “a giant lab...dedicated to the work of food innovation and the development of new flavors.”
Noma's new form will also include traveling and searching for new ways to share their work, with a Noma pop-up in the cards should the team find somewhere in the world where they must “go to learn.” The restaurant also indicated that “seasons” back in their location in Copenhagen would be possible once they've gathered “enough new ideas and flavors.”
Meanwhile, Noma Projects will continue and play an even bigger role in Noma 3.0, producing products like fermented sauces in “larger volumes,” according to the Noma website.
Before this announcement, Noma was a five-time winner of The World's 50 Best Restaurants ranking. It last topped the ranking in 2021 and had previously done it in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014.
During its 2021 win, the World's 50 Best Restaurants described it as having “groundbreaking seasonal cuisine and fermentation sorcery.” During the course of the year, Noma offers three different menus: ocean season from January to June, vegetable season from July to September, and game and forest from October to December. No menu is ever the same as the restaurant forages for unexpected ingredients that have included reindeer penis and deer brain.
Aside from topping the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, Noma has also been awarded three Michelin stars, which means a restaurant has “Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey!”
Foodies looking to book a table at Noma may find it challenging as the reservations for the restaurant's current Game & Forest Season, which runs until February 18 and features ingredients from the forest, have all been booked.
