Chicken Inasal ranks 5th in Taste Atlas' best chicken dishes
One of the Philippines' well-known dishes has been recognized by Taste Atlas. The inasal na manok ranked fifth in the most recent update of the best chicken dishes around the world list of the food guide.
Taste Atlas is an extensive travel guide that features different food, types of cuisines, and the food culture of countries around the world. They also do food reviews, research about the food and local ingredients, and even suggest the best places to eat the dishes they review.
In the most recent update of their 50 Best Chicken Dishes in the World list, Philippines' inasal na manok made it to the top five, ranking fifth. Ranking fourth is the Iranian chicken dish jujeh kabab, which is a grilled chicken kebab from Iran and is considered a staple dish in the country.
Meanwhile, India's tikka, a charcoal-roasted chicken dish marinated in yogurt and Indian spices such as turmeric, cumin, coriander, and cayenne pepper, ranked third. In second place is the butter chicken, which is a staple in most Indian restaurants and is famous in other countries too.
Taking the top spot is pollo a la brasa, a popular chicken dish from Peru. The chicken is grilled over charcoal which results in a crispy skin and juicy meat inside.
Taste Atlas, meanwhile, describes inasal na manok as "a signature dish in the Visayan region and that it's marinated with a mixture of vinegar and various spices including lemon grass, garlic, and ginger among others. The chicken is then brushed with annatto infused oil to give it the unique golden color and peppery taste Filipinos know well and love."
Additionally, it is also the only Filipino dish included in the list. Not only that, other dishes from the Philippines including adobo and lumpia, have previously been included in the best dishes list before.
