These dishes are waiting to be discovered in Hernani, Eastern Samar

Because of its location, it's not surprising that it's the beaches that first come to mind when travelers think of when they are at Hernani, Eastern Samar. But Hernani, Eastern Samar has more to offer than beaches - such as its delicious dishes.
To give fellow travelers an idea of what's on offer, Drew Arellano and the Biyahe ni Drew crew visited the province and tried out the dishes that travelers should try out if they ever find themselves in the area.
One of the things visitors that visitors to Hernani, Eastern Samar can try out is the pastry called hinurno. Biyahe ni Drew was able to talk to Nanay Dolor, who has spent 30 years of her life cooking hinurno and has amassed a loyal clientele. She uses her own hands - even if they get burned -- to find out whether the hinurno has been cooked well, as using tongs would destroy its shape.
Aside from hinunrno, travelers can also try out the tarukog or the armored sea leech. Hernani locals cook it like sisig and sell it for P150. It can also be served as salpicao, which they sell for P170.
Travelers can also try out the kamontaha or mantis shrimp. It can be steamed with butter and a special sauce and served to travelers for P850.
