Sinigang and bulalo enter list of top 50 best soups in the world

Any Filipino will tell you that nothing beats sinigang and bulalo, and now Taste Atlas is making sure the rest of the world knows as well as it ranks the two soups as part of the list of best soups in the world.
As reported by State of the Nation, sinigang and bulalo were placed 42nd and 43rd, respectively, in the website's list. Sinigang was described as a “true representative of Filipino cuisine” and having a “sour lightness perfectly matching the harsh tropical heat of the country.”
Meanwhile, bulalo is described as being “simple, comforting, and flavorful” with meat “so tender that it falls off the bone.”
Of course, this is just Filipino cuisine's latest appearance on Taste Atlas' lists. Back in February, turon and maruya made it to the top 50 best deep-fried desserts () in the world. Turon came in at 21 and maruya at 36, while Indonesia's pisang goreng, made from bananas, flour, sugar, and vanilla powder just to name a few ingredients, topped the list.
On the Taste Atlas website, turon is described as “falling in the group of popular lumpia snacks” and having a dusting of brown sugar, caramel, and roasted sesame seeds. Maruya, on the other hand, is described as a “light snack, sweet breakfast, or a filling afternoon dessert.”
Last year, Filipino party staple lumpiang shanghai ranked number two in the website's ranking of 50 best street foods, while tortang talong was ranked the best egg dish in the world in August last year.
Filipino favorites like bibingka also previously ranked in the list of 100 best rated cakes in the world, coming in at 13th place, while sans rival and kutsinta made it to 106 and 118, respectively. All three cakes had previously made it to an earlier top 100 list, with kutsinta placing 79 on the list, sans rival in 70th place, and bibingka at number 19.
