Change how you eat watermelon with this unique recipe

The sweet watermelon is especially popular during summer time, as the highly refreshing fruit is perfect as an ice-cold shake or as a snack itself.
According to Nutritionist Mary Natalie Carreon, watermelons help in washing away toxins in the body, given their 92 percent water content.
“Nakakatulong 'to sa pag-cleanse at remove ng toxins sa ating body, which also helps pag-regulate ng bowel movements ng isang tao,” she said.
She also noted that the round fruit is packed with nutrients, perfect for those managing their weight.
“Ito rin ay nutrient-dense, so kung gusto mo ng beach body, nakakatulong 'to sa pag-manage ng weight mo,” Carreon continued.
While we are used to eating sliced watermelons, Agnes Paras-Coder and her husband Fred Coder introduced a way to spice it up by turning it into kwek-kwek.
Agnes shared that the recipe of their pakwan kwek-kwek or deep-fried watermelon came from Fred's grandmother abroad.
And since her husband has been missing the tasty treats, she decided to make them for him.
The delicious treats are made by scooping pieces of watermelon, which is then coated by their homemade cake batter.
The coated watermelon scoops are then rolled into dry batter before getting deep-fried, just like a regular kwek-kwek.
To finish them off, the fried watermelon scoops are topped with their homemade vanilla icing.
