NCT Dream's Jeno becomes first K-pop artist to open runway show at NY Fashion Week

K-pop artists continue their domination in the realm of fashion and beauty as they front numerous labels and become the face of various international designer brands. K-pop boy group NCT Dream's Jeno is the new addition to the list as he becomes the first Korean idol to open a runway show at the New York Fashion Week.
Jeno, who's known by most for his charisma and appeal, will be opening luxury fashion designer Peter Do's Spring/Summer 2023 runway show at the New York Fashion Week. Centric on the concept of time, Peter explains, “It was a natural choice to have Jeno open the show. Jeno embodies the Peter Do man--multifaceted, confident, and a trailblazer.”
As a fan of SM Entertainment artists, Do deem it fit to have Asian representation on his runway. He shares, “There's the nostalgia of listening to Girls' Generation songs on the bus on my way to school. When we started the brand, we were listening to Red Velvet on repeat while building studio furniture.”
Apart from Jeno, Red Velvet's Seulgi will also be sitting front row to witness the collection and SM Rookies Shohei and Eunseok are also set to appear.
Do recognizes the talent and effort these artists are equipped with and shares, “I have so much respect for these artists because there is so much time put into their craft that people simply don't see. Few realize the intensity of what is happening behind the scenes to achieve the end product; it's very similar to fashion, so I identify with that process very much. As a brand forging its own path in the industry, we are proud to partner with the leading global player in K-pop to help write the future of fashion.”
Peter Do's runway show is set to take place on September 13, New York time.
