Besides Celeste Cortesi's dress, which Filipino-designed gown at the Miss Universe prelims is the best?

With the Miss Universe 2022 coronation night just a couple of nights away, Filipinos are excited to see Celeste Cortesi represent the country and vie for the country's fifth crown.

But in yesterday's preliminary competition, Celeste was not the only Filipino on the stage. Aside from Filipino-American R'Bonney Gabriel representing the United States, multiple Filipino fashion designers were also behind the evening gowns worn by a number of the Miss Universe contestants.

Some aficionados would even go so far as to say that the Filipino-made gowns, especially those worn by Miss USA R'Bonney and Miss Bahrain Evlin Abdullah-Khalifa, were easy standouts in the bunch.

Aside from looking regal, these gowns, as most fans would point out, were eye catching and breathtaking. But the best part of it all was that these gowns inspired the girls to level up their game. Did you see how powerful Miss USA's performance was? Or how about Miss Bahrain's regal, almost queenly aura, when she took centerstage?

Let's not forget how cool, calm, and collected our very own Celeste Cortesi was in her Oliver Tolentino dress.

Without a doubt, the Pinoy-made gowns worked their magic on the Miss Universe stage. Will we see more Pinoy designers in the finals? We can't wait for the coronation night!

Designer Rian Fernandez used this year's Pantone Color of the Year to come up with the evening gown for Miss USA R'Bonney Gabriel.

Rian described the gown as an edgy yet sophisticated halter top peek-a-boo trumpet dress with detachable oversized cape shawl, the color of which depicts universal harmony and character.

Nicknamed 'Untangled Dream,' the evening gown is meant to depict the intertwined branches of the historical banyan tree.

Filipino designer Carl Andrada created this golden gown for Miss Seychelles Gabriella Gonthier.

On her Instagram account, Gabriella described representing her country as an honor, and shared that she and her country was already a winner for “being on that platform and shaking that glass ceiling at Miss Universe.”

Miss Bahrain Evlin Khalifa wore an evening gown by Furne Amato, and in a post on her Instagram account expressed her gratitude not just to the designer but to her all-Filipino team as well.

The gown that designer Louis Pangilinan made for Miss Malta Maxine Formosa Grupetta is a fully-beaded and crystallized gown inspired by a woman's passion and desire.
