Jonathan Anderson steps down as Loewe creative director

Changes continue to rock the fashion world as yet another creative director for a fashion house is leaving the position.
The Guardian reports that Northern Ireland designer Jonathan Anderson has exited from his creative director role at the Spanish brand Loewe, a role that he has held since 2014. According to the publication, his time at the Spanish fashion house resulted in Loewe becoming “the hottest ticket of Paris fashion week.”
In his Instagram post, Anderson wrote that he was “surrounded by people with the imagination, the skills, tenacity and resourcefulness to find a way to say 'yes'” to his ideas. He also shared that his proudest achievement at the fashion house was the launching of the Craft Prize in 2017, which recognizes excellence in craft and design.
Jonathan Anderson is rumored to be promoted to Dior, which is currently headed by Maria Grazia Chiuri. However, there has been no news of any changes at Dior.
This departure is just the latest that has been happening in the fashion industry. Less than a week ago, Donatella Versace announced her departure as the creative director of Versace, a position she has held since 1997, after her brother Gianni Versace was murdered in Miami, Florida.
On her Instagram account, Donatella wrote that it was “the greatest honor” to carry on the legacy of her brother Gianni. She ended the caption by saying that she will remain “Vesace's most passionate supporter” and that the name is in her DNA and always in her heart.
Last year, Alessandro Michele was named the creative director of Valentino, taking over from Pierpaolo Piccioli, who was the creative director of Valentino for 16 years.
Alessandro Michele previously served as creative director at Gucci for seven years, attracting a celebrity clientele that included Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Dakota Johnson, and Jodie Turner-Smith.
In 2023, musician and singer-songwriter Pharrell Williams was named the new creative director for Louis Vuitton's menswear division, a position held by Virgil Abloh until his passing.
