Korean Cultural Center, Korea Tourism Organization put a spotlight on K-beauty
The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila highlighted Korean beauty in the very first K-Beauty Hangout event last April 12.
The one-day free event at SM Aura allowed for exploration of the world of K-beauty through hands-on experiences, booths, and lectures led by makeup artists, who have worked with popular K-drama stars.
"The K-Beauty event is an event to showcase Korean beauty... as well as it's a prelude to the Korea Beauty Festival that will be happening in Seoul," KTO marketing manager Ninibeth Leanne Madrilejos told GMA Lifestyle.
The K-Beauty Hangout event in SM Aura was met with local enthusiasm.
KTO deputy director Eunkyung Cho noted that in K-culture, beauty is one of the most popular among Filipinos.
Cho added that the interest shown by Filipinos to K-beauty might have been influenced by the make-up looks showcased by Korean celebrities.
As the event was met with positive reception, Cho said they are looking to hold a bigger K-Beauty event next year.
Aside from the booths and free activities set up, free lectures on hair styling and makeup were also conducted by two artists from Jenny House, a popular beauty salon among celebrities in Korea.

Hwaju, who shared tips and techniques in achieving the popular "clean girl" make-up look, has worked with Son Yejin, Go Ara, and Stephanie Lee, among others.
Meanwhile, Jihoon has worked with Park Shin-hye, Jo Bo-ah, and Kim Joo-hun in the past.
The K-Beauty Hangout is a "teaser" of some sort for the upcoming Korea Beauty Festival 2024 in Seoul, South Korea from May 31 to June 30.
Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST), KTO, and the Visit Korea Committee, the event aims to showcase the best of K-Beauty to foreign tourists.
