20 years of upholding the value of volunteerism and helping extend and save lives, GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) received the highest award of the Philippine Red Cross as one of its “Outstanding Blood Services Partner of the Year 2016” last July 29.

Since 1996, GMAKF has advocated the value of volunteerism through blood donation with their Sagip Dugtong Buhay Bloodletting Project.

GMAKF Executive Vice President and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog accepted the award, which was presented by PRC Chairman Sen. Richard Gordon, Secretary General Atty. Oscar Palabyab, and Red Cross Gov. Rosa Rosal.

“All of us have something within us that we can share with our neighbour, and by giving blood, we can be champions of the marginalized and those in need,” says Escudero.

A total of 5,428 blood bags equivalent to 2,436,000cc were generated by GMAKF for the Red Cross in 2015. 

This August, GMAKF is again set to conduct bloodletting events as follows: August 7 (Sunday) 8 a.m.–3 p.m. at Bacoor Coliseum, Springville, Camella, Molino 3, Bacoor City; August 13 (Saturday), 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Robinsons Pulilan, Pulilan, Bulacan; August 14 (Sunday), 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Marquee Mall, Angeles, Pampanga; and August 20 (Saturday), 8 a.m.–6 .pm. Ever Gotesco Mall Commonwealth, Quezon City.

GMAKF enjoins all healthy individuals over 18 years to drop by and donate blood.
